This research was concerned to find out strategies were used by the eighth grade students of MTsS Safinatussalamah Lhokseumawe overcome difficulties in English speaking, and know reason they chose those strategies. The design applied this descriptive qualitative research. Meanwhile, techniques data collection observation, field note, interview. researcher analyzed Miles Huberman model, namely reduction, display, conclusion. result showed that there various learning students. There meta-cognitive strategies, cognitive social-affective They based on some reasons, such as because wanted check their language be a good felt easier get ideas knew ability speaking.
